Managing Pain and Discomfort
Medication
Take any prescribed pain relievers or anti-inflammatory medications as directed. Over-the-counter pain medications may also help, but be sure to follow dosage instructions and consult with our team if you have any concerns.Expected Sensations
It is normal to experience mild to moderate discomfort, sensitivity, or soreness in the treated area for a few days after your procedure. If the pain intensifies or does not improve, please contact our office.
Swelling and Bleeding
Ice Application
Some swelling may occur. To reduce swelling, apply an ice pack to the outside of your face near the treated area for 15 minutes on, then 15 minutes off, during the first 24 hours.Bleeding Control
A small amount of bleeding or oozing is common. Bite gently on a gauze pad for 30–45 minutes following your treatment to help control bleeding. If bleeding persists beyond a few hours or becomes heavy, please notify us immediately.
Oral Hygiene
Brushing and Flossing
Maintain your regular oral hygiene routine, but be gentle around the treated area. Avoid vigorous brushing or flossing directly at the site for the first 24 hours.Rinsing
If advised, you may gently rinse with a warm saltwater solution after the first 24 hours to help keep the area clean. Do not use mouthwash that contains alcohol unless specifically recommended by our team.
Diet and Activity
Eating
Stick to a soft diet for the first few days after your procedure. Avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that could disturb the treated area. Also, steer clear of extremely hot or cold foods and beverages until the sensitivity subsides.Activity
Limit strenuous physical activities for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. Resting will help your body direct energy toward the healing process.
Follow-Up Care
Monitoring Your Recovery
Keep an eye on the treated area for signs of infection, such as increased pain, swelling, or a foul taste. Mild discomfort is normal, but significant changes should be reported.Scheduled Appointments
Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments so we can assess your healing progress and address any concerns. Your feedback is important for ensuring a successful recovery.
